No.13 of my 2018 world series challenge is the Griffith Observatory, Los Angeles 🇺🇸🌌
A very pink illustration created with acrylic and ink on paper. This location stars in one of our favourite films of the last few years, La La Land. It’s a wonderful vantage point over the city. During the early evening the observatory has that eerie cinematic quality and the different shades in sky over the valley open up lots of opportunity for expressive and creative colours. In fact this illustration does feel like a traditional colour study for a much bigger piece… perhaps a big feature canvas later this year!
